Sean, You’re Hired

Posted 06/06/2006 at 12:29 pm in TV

In the absolute SNOOZER of a finale last night, Sean Yazbeck was hired as Donald Trump’s fifth Apprentice. There was a point last night where I thought that Trump was going to look to the camera and say, “Just kidding….these guys are a couple of clowns would could barely manage their way out of a pair of pants, let alone a multi-million dollar company. I’m changing the rules and I’m going to hire Rebecca like I should have last season.”

Seriously…the season started off so well. Lots of drama, interesting, seemingly talented people, but none of them panned out. The season was an absolute trainwreck. It’s no wonder that George and Carolyn were scarce this year. They didn’t want to be associated with these untalented hacks. I know that reality TV should have some amount of drama, but what really suffered here is the Trump Organization. They didn’t have a chance with these morons to pick from.

Hopefully, the next season in Los Angeles will result in better candidates. The show needs a fresh look (one that sorta started gestating this season with the addition of Ivanka and Don Jr. and more of Bill, who is still the best Apprentice out of all 5) and hopefully the California sun will provide the spark that the show needs.

My idea for a task? Come up with the best new hairstyle for Mr. Trump.

The Apprenti Stink

Posted 05/09/2006 at 12:08 pm in TV

I had high hopes for this season of The Apprentice.

It started strong with some people who had an extra helping of crazy…fun stuff always. But now, the show is pretty boring and I have NO ONE to root for. The five people left are useless. Not a one of them comes even CLOSE to the talent any of the previous winners had (including last year’s runner up).

Particularly…well…ALL OF THEM. Shawn, the clever Brit, really isn’t that clever. Lee, the politician, should have been fired last night and has done an excellent job dancing around responsibility. Alli, the cute ex-cheerleader, isn’t really that cute (despite her good name) and she is really annoying. Roxanne, the clever lawyer, seems somewhat deluded in some ways. Lastly, Tammy, the boring one, is BO-RING.

Anywho, I almost don’t want to watch, but I don’t want to miss something good. Let’s just hope that there’s something good left.

Ivanka

The Apprentice is back on TV and I couldn’t be happier.

As much as I dislike reality TV in principle, I still can’t stop watching it. I love “The Donald”, George, Carolyn, and his cast of characters, including now his extremely well-spoken daughter, Ivanka, who stepped in as a consultant last night.

One of my favorite things about The Apprentice is that the prize is something a little more real and the tasks have at least a little to do with the endgame.

Some of the early tasks are sort of a train wreck, but I think that they are designed to be that way so that there will be drama drama drama.

This season has started off really strong. There are certainly some head cases (Brent) and this season has some added fun of the kooky foreigner (Lenny); there are overly talented, under impressive (Tarek), the spitfire women (choose any), and the kid (Lee, who I think is really sharp and will be around for a while).

Tonight’s episode was crazy and I really enjoyed it. We’ll see how the rest of it pans out.

The Apprentice Finale

Posted 12/16/2005 at 7:07 am in TV

I don’t know if it’s that I’m enamored with Donald Trump’s hair or that I just like a reality show that focuses on talent, rather than drama, but ever since the first season, I’ve been a loyal watcher of The Apprentice.

The 2-hour (semi) live season finale was last night and pitted Randal against Rebecca in a competition of charity events. I really enjoyed the finale a lot until the end of it (but we’ll get to that a little later). Randal and Rebecca both had to overcome enormous obstacles on their final tasks…Randal’s charity softball game was rained out and Rebecca’s celebrity emcee, Joe Piscopo, backed out at the last minute.

Both made the proper adjustments and held extremely successful events. It started to become very clear as they made it to the board room that both candidates were very successful and it was possible that Trump might hire both of them.
